Deborah Aitken has led and life of variety and adventure. No stranger to relocation, she started life in Detroit, Michigan, and moved to different states and countries, attending 10 schools by the time she graduated high school in Rome, Italy. Subsequently, she earned Bachelor of Music (piano performance) and Master of Arts (collaborative piano) degrees from California State University Northridge and the University of Southern California.

A lifelong professional concert pianist, she has been able to indulge her wanderlust by studying on a scholarship in Italy and a Grant in Paris, and performing across the US and around the world. It also has given her the opportunity to work with many varied cultures, affording her the ability to see things from differing points of view.

Along the way, Deborah learned through her lucrative personal real estate investments that she had remarkable intuition. Her first foray into commercial real estate was a land acquisition, partnering with her friend, a visual artist; their initial $16,000 investment led to them splitting over $220,000 within a short time after buying the land. No longer a college music professor in California, Deborah devotes herself to using the same powers for her clients. She is licensed in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and California, and is a full-time commercial broker handling all types of commercial real estate. For several decades she had a home in the Los Angeles area, and now resides in Charlotte NC. While she works with great teams of experienced, savvy commercial brokers in NC and other states, her international connection have helped her find distinctive properties in other countries, including residences and investments.

Formerly with other real estate firms such as Sothebys, Allen Tate, Engel and Voelkers and Showcase Realty, and receiving an Agent of the Year award, she found her home in 2022 at Coldwell Banker Commercial Real Estate in the Ballantyne office, in the Charlotte NC area.

Her lifelong passion for animals has taken many forms. When young she flirted with the idea of being an animal trainer, but finally decided to confine that interest to working with her own pets. Her chinchilla and her cat had a long roster of tricks, and she trained her dog, Maurice, to be a Therapy Dog, taking him regularly to visit nursing homes and to a library where children read to him! Her newest dog, Finnegan, is working toward that same distinction. Always interested in conservation, she worked with Richard Leakey on a project to perform concerts to raise money for anti-poaching efforts in Kenya, has participated in several scientific projects with endangered animals, and now donates a portion of each real estate transaction to animal conservation programs.

Deborah welcomes the opportunity to address any concerns or questions concerning commercial real estate, and can help anyone wanting to buy, sell or lease property of all types.
